Covid-19 Precautions

Updated 21/10/2020

In light of COVID-19, I will be asking parents/carers to provide regular updates on the health of their family/household in order to protect others that are using my service and my own family. I will share updates about my own family's health.

First be reassured, social distancing will be followed wherever possible. With the age of the children in the setting this will be impossible to do so all of the time, it will be encouraged as much as possible. If your child needs comfort, I will still hug them when upset or hurt.

If a child becomes unwell with a new, continuous cough or a high temperature they must be collected and parents will be advised to follow COVID-19: guidance for households with possible coronavirus infection.

If anyone in your family shows any signs of Coronavirus please adhere to the Government guidelines of isolating 10 days and 14 days for other members of the household.

Procedures in Place

Parents/carers of children in my setting all receive a comprehensive Welcome Pack upon joining the setting. This includes all my current childcare policies, procedures, guidelines and permission slips, etc. This is normally printed for parents/carers to sign but is supplied electronically during the pandemic. A more in-depth Covid-19 policy than summarised here is included in the package. All policies are updated and reissued as and when required.

I have a Covid risk assessment in place in addition to my usual setting risk assessments.

Groovie Tots...

  • I will stagger drop off and collection times with parents so only one parent arrives at one time.
  • There is a drop off and collection at the door policy.
  • I will provide a plastic box for each child's belongings, this will be in the porch and be brought indoors once the child is safely inside.
  • Children's hands will be washed on arrival. Door handles and the door will all be wiped down.
  • Children's hands will be washed on a regular basis throughout the day, before and after food and after coughing or sneezing. This will be made as fun as possible for children to enjoy and learn the importance of good hygiene.
  • Children will be encouraged to catch sneezes and coughs in a tissue and to bin the tissue then wash their hands. For children that are too young to do this, I will wear PPE when wiping their nose and face and follow the same guidelines of Catch it, Bin it, Kill it.
  • I will provide chilled storage for any parent provided packed lunches and appropriate storage areas for other foodstuffs.
  • Children's plates, cutlery and cups are not shared and are cleaned and disinfected regularly.
  • All soft toys in the setting have been removed from use.
  • Free running water play will be permitted and children will take turns to use the outdoor running tap, but there will currently be no shared water play or sand play.
  • Children will be allowed to make their own individual play-dough and it will be disposed of after use.
  • Toys and art materials will be stored in plastic toy boxes that can be wiped down. Toys and materials to be disinfected daily.
  • I will provide sun hats for children that I can wash everyday after use.
  • I provide wipe down sleep mats that will be disinfected before and after each use. Sheets or blankets will be washed at 60°C after each use.
  • As no detailed face to face feedback is allowed I will send daily email's at the end of the day.
  • Children's developmental reports that are normally printed will be emailed to you.
